Description

PLONIC 32" Professional Skimming Blade — 0.5mm 301 Stainless Steel

The Professional 32" is built for the walls and ceilings where passes cost money. Its 0.5mm 301 stainless steel blade covers 80 cm in one pull and flexes evenly across the whole width, while the rigid extruded aluminum body keeps it from chattering on long runs. The round-grip handle gives a full-hand hold overhead, and high-impact end caps keep the steel seated through daily use.

Compared with a 24", the 32" cuts passes on an open wall by roughly a third and leaves fewer seams to feather, which is why it is the daily driver for large residential and light commercial finishing.

Why pros pick the Professional 32"

  • 0.5mm 301 stainless — hard, springy grade that holds its flex and won't rust
  • Rigid extruded aluminum body — no flex-induced chatter across 32"
  • Round-grip handle — comfortable for ceilings and long pulls
  • Rounded blade profile — fewer lap marks between passes
  • High-impact end caps — jobsite-proof

Best for

  • Large open walls and ceilings
  • Level 5 skim coats on new construction
  • Light commercial drywall finishing
  • Knockdown and texture smoothing over big areas

Frequently asked questions

Can one person run a 32" blade?
Yes. The aluminum body keeps it light, and the rigid extrusion stops the flex that makes cheaper wide blades hard to control.

Professional 32" vs the classic 32" Stainless Blade — which should I buy?
Both have a 0.5mm stainless blade. The Professional uses a round-grip body with 301 stainless and high-impact end caps; the classic Stainless Blade uses a flat-grip housing with end caps that open to replace the blade. Choose by handle preference.

Does it fit an extension pole?
Yes, with an extension pole and adapter, sold separately.

Very easy to use ergonomically designed handle

This skimmer has a very nice comfortable curved hand grip with a very long, smooth straight edge. That’s reinforced with a radial edge. Comes with a protective rubber edge against the blade. Also has a loop on the top end to make it easy for storage and hanging up on the shelf allows for a very nice smooth application. Large 32 inch blade.

The Round Grip Really Does Make a Difference

The 32-inch size is useful for skim coating larger wall sections, smoothing wide butt joints, blending compound, and knocking down light ceiling texture. It covers a lot of area with each pass, and the stainless blade with the rigid aluminum body feels well made and stays straight while I am making longer pulls. The quality is definitely there.

I already own skimming blades in just about every size, so I was curious whether the round grip handle on this one would actually make much difference. After using it, I can say it is not a gimmick. The handle changes the feel of the blade in a good way, giving me a more substantial and comfortable grip that lets me pull the mud back tighter and with better control than some of my standard flat-handle blades.

The round handle does come with a couple of tradeoffs to consider. It does not fit any of my existing extension poles, so I would still use one of my traditional blades for high walls or ceiling work that requires a pole. It also does not lay flat, which means it takes up a little more room in the gun case where I store my blades. Neither issue takes away from how well the blade works in hand, but they are worth knowing if you already have a pole system or compact storage setup.

Overall, I really like the round-grip design and would use it again for wide wall work where I can work by hand. If you want a quality skimming blade with a grip that gives you better control while pulling compound, this is a great option—just be aware that the handle design has some tradeoffs.

Large-Surface Drywall Blade That Delivers Smooth Results

This 32-inch skimming blade covers a lot of ground quickly and feels solid in the hand. The rigid extruded aluminum body stays straight under pressure, while the thin 0.5mm stainless steel blade glides smoothly for clean skim coats and knockdown finishes. The round grip handle is comfortable and well-balanced, making it easy to control even on large walls and ceilings without hand fatigue.
The look is professional and clean, with a black handle that contrasts nicely against the shiny stainless blade. Materials feel high-quality—the aluminum body is rigid with no flex, and the stainless edge holds up well without bending or dulling easily. Cleanup is straightforward, and the overall construction gives a durable, job-site ready feel.
At this price the value is excellent. You get a wide, well-made tool that speeds up finishing work on big surfaces and produces consistent, smooth results. It is worth every penny for anyone tackling larger drywall or plasterboard projects.

32" straight edge! Great for floating.

This is a must-have for any good drywall crew. Well, let me rephrase that a great drywaller can do almost anything with this 6-in knife. But if you're a DIY or a mediocre drywall finisher, like me, and this tool is excellent for floating large repairs or large areas that that uneven or different heights.

I also have an 18-in and 24-in floating blade like this.

One thing, these things really come in handy for is floating or skimming an entire wall. When you're trying to cover up an old texture and change to a new texture style. This allows you to make large passes and is pretty comfortable in the hand with the ergonomic grip.

Large Drywall Skimming Blade

My husband does remodeling for a living and hangs a lot of drywall. He has purchased this brand of drywall skimming blade before. He likes that you can buy the extended sizes. He also thinks they are good quality and a good price.

Smooth finish

I am working on restoring an old home and need to skim several walls. I tried this round handle, and it did not feel as good in my hands as the more ergonomic style handles; however, I did find that this was more versatile. I was able to turn and control this better than the others with different shaped handles. So the trade-off is up to the user. The weight is light and sturdy, has held up well under use, and is easy to clean. The walls look good, and much quicker to use than typical trowels. There is a little learning curve when you first start with this, but it is quick, and there are videos with pointers online. I'm happy with this purchase.

32" of smooth coverage in a single pass

Adding the 30" drywall skimming blade to my drywall arsenal makes skimming and finishing much easier and quicker with such a simple but effective tool. The ergonomics of the blade are on point and it helps reduce hand fatigue and make it easy to distribute an equal amount of pressure across the tool.

Overall the tool is made with quality in mind and it is felt in its sturdiness. The blade is thinner giving it very minor flex and the edges are rounded off, which I personally found helpful with overlaps. Great tool and it has helped me a lot to get better results, and also making the skimming process quicker with the 32" blade.
